Homework Help - Student achievement is critical to long term success. Our "flagship program" is focused on education. We partner with Youth With A Mission, Rockford Schools, and lots of volunteers to host homework help for grades K-8 four days each week on Monday through Thursday afternoons from 3:30 - 5:30 pm.
Adventure Club - Wayzata Free Church invites youth grades 1 - 5 to join in on Adventure Club, a Wednesday night kids program designed to teach Biblical truth while growing relationships through activities.
Aspen House - The Aspen tree is something you will never see growing on its own, but always grows in clusters... this is due to the fact that its roots connect to one another and allow for greater Strength, Stability, and Support. The Aspen House, in partnership with Lord of Life Lutheran Church is a home in the park where a family is surrounded by a Family Support Network to provide Strength, Stability, and Support for up to 2 years! Along the way, this young family is learning about themselves, pursuing education or career options, and adding resources to their family.
AWOL - For over 20 years, Wayzata Free Church has been coming out to Maple Hill Estates and offering a large, community-wide Vacation Bible School called AWOL (A Work Of Love) for one week per year. Over 50 student volunteers come and sleep on-site in campers and tents as they host the young people from the park for a week of fun games, skits, crafts, and food as they learn about the love of Jesus.
Community Center - In May of 2015, we opened the doors of our new 3500sf Community Center! In this building residents are able to gather together, work in the computer lab, play pinball or foosball, workout in our fitness center, create an arts or craft project, cook a meal, or just about anything they like. This center has been a huge blessing and is used everyday.
Craft Activities - Each week, one of our faithful volunteers Jen St. Cyr, tackles a new art project with the kids of the community! What an amazing use of her talents and creative ideas.
Early Childhood - In partnership with ECFE (Early Childhood and Family Education) of Rockford, all pre-K children and parents/guardians are welcome to gather together for fun learning activities designed to prepare children for Kindergarten.
ESL/ELL Classes - Adults interested in improving their English skills are offered classes for all levels twice a week.
Food Distribution - We partner with C.R.O.S.S. food shelf to offer food to the residents of Maple Hill all year round. This is focused on fresh fruits, vegetables, and breads available at the Hope Center on Fridays.
FCA Sports Clinic - In partnership with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, we offer a week-long sports camp where students are coached by winning coaches and athletes across the Western Twin Cities in soccer and basketball.
Getting Ahead - The Getting Ahead program is a 16 week workshop developed by Phil DeVol where families in under-resourced communities can gather to explore the realities of living in their environment, learn about 11 resources and how they can build on these, and create a plan for their "future story." This nationwide program has led to families experiencing hope and a path toward their dreams.
Great Escape - Students who are a little too old for AWOL have the opportunity during that week to travel to a variety of off-site locations to enjoy activities with their peers and the volunteer leaders from AWOL.
Summer lunch program - without school lunch programs, it can be a strain to provide lunches to kids during the summer months. Our Fathers Lutheran Church generously provides lunches to many several days per week.
Taco Tuesdays - In partnership with Chipotle, and a host of volunteers from within and outside the part, we are able to come together as a community each week during the summer months for a large gathering of adults and children around a meal and some activities.
TreeHouse - Mobile Hope is a TreeHouse Community Partner agency - this means we have staff trained in the TreeHouse model of working with at-risk teens and families pursuing life transformation. Mobile Hope is one of the TreeHouse sites for the NW Metro where we offer The Journey youth program on Wed nights, Peer Support Groups for students, and one-on-one youth mentoring.
Vision Trips - We want the young people of Maple Hill Estates to envision a successful future for themselves and their families. To aid in that goal, we seek to provide opportunities for the students to be exposed to a variety of careers by either having individuals come to the Hope Center and share about what they do or by taking a group of students on educational field trips to hear and see what it means to be successful in that career choice. If you would like to host a site-visit to your workplace or campus, please contact us to set up a trip.
