About Us

Mobile Hope provides on-site direct services and resources for the residents of the mobile home parks we serve, to break the generational cycle of poverty and provide youth and families with tools to empower them toward upward mobility.

We focus our programs and services on four main priorities:

Education, Connections to Resources, Healthy Activities and Faith Development. We assist students to excel in school, have healthy and challenging activities to engage in, and cultivate positive and meaningful relationships. Through this, hope and a vision for the future is developed. These priorities are based in the community development principles of dignity, local leadership, empowerment, and justice, on the foundation of our Christian faith in action.

Our History

Mobile Hope began informally in 1996, when Jill Dejewski, then a middle school youth pastor at Wayzata Free Church, was asked to start a Vacation Bible School (VBS) at Maple Hill Estates in Corcoran, MN. Interest in VBS then led to year-round faith formation for children and a bible study for the women. Homework Help for school-aged children was added in 2009. Demand for programming continued to grow. To meet this demand, community dinners and informal resident surveys helped guide direction/activities. In 2010, a formal leadership team, mission, and strategies were established that enabled us to be intentional about our approach and future work. Out of those leadership meetings, Mobile Hope became a 501c3 in 2013, Co-founded by Jill and Brian Dejewski. Jill Dejewski, Mobile Hope’s Co-founder and Director of Programs, has been involved in the ministry since its inception in 1996. Jill and her husband Brian, Mobile Hope’s Executive Director, moved into the park with their family in June of 2013, to live full-time alongside and in community with the individuals and families being served by the program.

To better meet the needs of the community, in 2015, through a partnership with the City of Corcoran, The Hope Center, a multi-purpose community center and gathering space was built in Maple Hill offering a communal space for services and enhanced programming, dramatically expanding program and service delivery with broader opportunities for all Maple Hill Estates residents. In 2018 alone, 9,343 attendees (duplicated)/311 (unduplicated) attended 1,008 hours of programming.
In 2019, Mobile Hope has continued to increase its internal capacity through strategic planning and increased development activities to meet the demand for expansion of its model into new mobile home communities. The first of these sites was piloted in Dayton, MN, which is now our second Mobile Hope site and led by Cathy Walter, our Dayton Site Director.  Additional communities across the state and beyond are also interested in utilizing the Mobile Hope Model.

Faith in Action

Mobile Hope was formed on the foundation of our Christian faith, which compels us to both love God and love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:36-40).  We wish to see all people, regardless of economic status or culture, as God sees them and honor Him by serving those around us.  This is what drives all we do.  We do so, with the hope offered to us, and which we pass along to others, which is the hope of Jesus Christ manifest in action.  This hope is clearly stated in our theme-verse of Romans 15:13 - "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
While we are a Christian ministry, participation in any of our programs and services is voluntary. Residents may choose to participate in some or all of our available programs and services and are never required to participate in faith-based programming to receive services.
